Two Posters for the upcoming show (The second is a cube one which I had to compress to fit on the NCCAF page). Way overcrowded, but I wanted to convey a sense of all the stuff going on in the show. It's probably a mistake. Hurray!

New Bio

My new bio for the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival:

Having performed on both coasts, the Middle East and even the Middle West, Survivor of the North Carolina Comedy Fest '09 and Laugh your Asheville off Festival, Mike Blejer returns to North Carolina to perform selections from his multimedia show Symbology Comedy.

Following in the tradition of comics like Mitch Hedberg, Demetri Martin, and Patton Oswalt, Mike writes comedy that is clever but relatable, addressing a range of culturally relevant topics like family, race, gender, sexuality and mullets.

In Symbology, Mike examines one symbol each month, unlocking hidden meanings to find out not only what we can say about the symbol, but what the symbol says about us. Symbology features multimedia performances: powerpoint, music, film, and stand-up from some of the finest rising stars on the east coast. Having been cast as a lead in an upcoming Indie film Mike is currently running the show out of Washington DC, as of March it will return to it's home in New York City.

I wanted to pay homage to some of my influences while still talking about my unique focus, hopefully that comes through. Here's a Jim Jarmusch quote on the subject. Check it out.

Merry Christmas!

My gift to you this holiday season:

Magic Hate Ball

The way it works is, you ask it any question, any question at all, shake it up, and it then it says that.

Also: show tomorrow, Hyperion Tavern in Silverlake. 9pm. Symbology stuff. Very fancy.
